I registered Hook Assembly cc in 2003 to service the industrial sewing machine sector. My husband runs the company for us, having worked in that field since 1992.

It's true that most good ideas come from gaps in the market that can be filled by entrepreneurs like myself. I had seen these products over the years in the media and thought, if I was interested in them, would others be too ? I imported these goods and show cased them at 4 expos in 6 months to get a reaction (positive or negative). Decorex, Johannesburg (Jul/Aug 08) was the most successful, proving to everyone that these simple three products were winners. Proving to be "little winners" I registered Messy to Dressy and broke away from trading under my other company.

Fundraising idea . . .
A school in Pretoria approached me and asked if they could receive some of my pamphlets to distribute amongst their students and alumni. They would take orders with the view to raising funds for their school (they would add R5.00 onto my list price) and put it toward new drum majorettes outfits. I recognised the opportunity for both parties and offered to also donate R5.00 for every item purchased, doubling their funds raised. Watch this space for the results.

Since them, a nursery school in the Randburg area has come onboard with our project. Good luck to everyone.

Sponsorship days . . .
A school for learners with special needs in Bethal (Mpumalanga) hosted a Secretaries Day in Sep 08, to highlight the ladies (and gents) who often go un-recognised. We were pleased to have been an official sponsor for the day and donated several packs that were used a "give-aways".
